The Denver Broncos are entering the 2026 NFL season as one of the league’s elite teams, ranked in the top 3 of preseason power rankings. Coming off a dominant 14-3 record and a first-place finish in the AFC, the Broncos are riding a two-game win streak and look poised for another deep playoff run.
The Broncos' success last season was built on a balanced attack, with a top-10 offense and a stifling defense that ranked in the top 5 in sacks and turnovers. Quarterback Bo Nix, in his second year, showed significant growth, throwing for over 4,000 yards and 28 touchdowns while improving his decision-making. The defense, led by All-Pro linebacker Justin Simmons, allowed the fewest points per game in the AFC.
With a strong core returning and key offseason additions, the Broncos are positioned to challenge for the Super Bowl. The offensive line was bolstered with the signing of veteran guard Kevin Zeitler, while the secondary added cornerback Charvarius Ward to bolster pass coverage. Head coach Sean Payton’s play-calling and leadership have also been instrumental in the team’s resurgence.
The Broncos open the 2026 season on September 15 against the Kansas City Chiefs, a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship Game. If they can maintain their defensive dominance and continue Nix’s development, Denver could be the team to beat in the AFC. Training camp will be critical in fine-tuning the roster and ensuring the team is ready for the challenges ahead.
